Tennis Committee
Charter

PURPOSE
The Tennis Committee is designated by the South Bay Community Association (SBCA)
Board of Directors (BOD) to assist the board in all tennis related matters,
particularly the tennis courts at the golf course, hear after referred to as
the South Bay Tennis Courts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be the liaison between the SBCA BOD and the tennis community.
2. Monitor the playing condition of the courts, and in coordination with the Bay
Club manager and the tennis community, maintain suitable playing conditions.
Arrange work parties, on occasion, to remove storm debris and encroaching
vegetation.
3. When major maintenance becomes necessary, assist the SBCA BOD and Bay Club
manager by obtaining cost estimates, firm bids, and doing essential legwork to
assist in implementation of the maintenance action.
4. Define and implement rules of usage for the courts. When deemed necessary,
define and implement a reservation system. These shall be subject to approval by
the SBCA BOD.
5. Recommend annually, for the BOD, budget requirements for proper upkeep of the
facility, e.g. nets, squeegees, reserve fund, etc.
6. Report as needed to the SBCA BOD meeting regarding Tennis Committee
activities.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Committee shall be composed of at least five members, and a maximum of
seven. At least two SBCA Board Members shall be included. Members shall be
selected from SBCA Members or Associate Members. All members are subject to SBCA
BOD approval.
Members will be selected for two year terms, beginning August 1 each year.
There is no limit on number of terms.
OFFICERS
The Committee shall elect their own officers. These will be a chairperson, a
co-chairperson, and a secretary.
MEETINGS
Meetings will be as required. Meetings will be open, and written minutes will
be recorded and maintained.
