SBCA POLICY REGARDING
POLITICAL SIGNS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY

Section 4.2.12 of the South Bay Master Declaration of CC&R’s has limited property signs to those signs required by legal proceedings and one sign advertising a home for sale or rent.
The State of Washington in 2005 enacted RCW 64.38.034 that permits political signs on private property prior to any primary or general election. The statute further provides for reasonable rules and regulations regarding the placement and manner of display of political yard signs. . Accordingly, the South Bay Community Association ARC shall, effective immediately, permit no more than one sign per candidate on any individual property for no more than 30 days prior to any Primary or General election. Such signs shall be removed within 36 hours after said election, except for candidates that are successful in the primary. These signs may remain in place until 36 hours following the general election. Signs shall preferably be 18 inches by 24 inches but no more than four square feet. Further, such signs shall neatly be placed on property no more than 36 inches in height.
