Teal Lake Village Association Annual Meeting

Sept. 19, 2011 – Bay Club – 3:00 p.m.

President Karol Cushenbery called the meeting to order. A quorum was determined to be present.

Board Members present: Karol Cushenbery, President and interim Landscape Chairman; Mark Weaver, ARC Chairman; Lee Springgate, Vice President; Fran Wickeham, Treasurer; and Soozie Darrow, Secretary.

There were 25 additional Teal Lake Village residents present, as well as 6 residents of Fairwood Village.

Secretary’s Report: Soozie Darrow

The draft minutes of the July 18, 2011 meeting written by Mark Weaver were approved.

Financial Report: Fran Wickeham

·    Fran Wickeham reported that all dues are up to date. Our current assets total $110,331.

·    Consolidating our two insurance policies saved about $500.

·    Garth Lindsey, a practicing CPA, has reviewed our 2010 financial records and found them to be accurately documented.

ARC Report: Mark Weaver

Several Fairwood Village residents have requested windowing procedures for several evergreens in Teal Lake Village along Teal Lake Road. There appears to be no prior documentation, i.e. photographs, for past year’s growth for these trees, though the Fairwood Village residents say the trees had previously been limbed.

After much discussion, it was agreed that the Teal Lake Village Board Members will further research the situation, get the opinions of the TruGreen arborist as well as the county, if deemed necessary..

Landscape Report: Karol Cushenbery.

·         Extra weed control by ChemLawn has been requested for the common areas.

·         The irrigation systems will be blown out as soon as the rains begin, perhaps in October.

·         Pruning of individual perennials and trees will begin again. Requests should be sent to Karol Cushenbery. The homeowner should be home at the time that the work is done.

·         Dead common area shrubs will be removed and replaced with appropriate plants in October.

·         Lee Springgate has volunteered to head up the new landscape contract upon which the residents will vote at the 2012 annual meeting. He would appreciate help in talking with potential contractors and writing up the contracts.

Ballot Results: Election Committee Sue Carlson and Dan Darrow

Old Business:
There was no Old Business

New Business:
Disaster Preparedness: Soozie Darrow reviewed the need for more volunteers from Teal Lake Village to participate in the Disaster Preparedness program for Port Ludlow MPR. We now have only three “captains” willing to help us in the case of an earthquake, monsoon, volcano eruption, etc. With 98 homes, we really should have 14 volunteers, 2 for each street. Their duty is to make sure their own family and home are secure and then to determine the status of  the neighborhood.  Emergency radios are provided with which to check in with the main coordinators. There usually are quarterly testings of these to make sure we are all up to speed. Please consider participating in this very vital program. Pat Traci (437-7874) is in charge of the over all program, and Pat Lohrey (437-7760) is in charge of South Bay. Call either of them for more information.

Security: Karol Cushenbery urged us to leave lights on at night and keep doors and windows locked. Bay View Village just below us has been experiencing suspicious activities in the neighborhood.

Proposed Schedule for 2012 Village Board Meetings is:

·         The 3rd Monday of March, May and July at 10:30 a.m.

·         And the 3rd Monday of Sept. for the annual meeting 3:00 p.m.

Any change will be sent to all residents.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
